Banc d’essai: Ping-Pong Pipe

Here Laurent Perbos subverts the codes of the ping-pong table. Games, a priori clearly defined games, are proposed to the spectators. But they move away from their normal purpose to transgress their own rules and propose new reflections on the notions of failure and success, competitiveness and competition, entertainment or work. The intention is create a play area, a work that is a terrain for exchanges both physical and intellectual. The Ping-Pong Pipe work (its first version) was originally created to be exhibited in museums and art centres. As part of the Banc d'essai project, a new version of this work has been created, for public spaces. Its tubular form will made directly from GRP pipes (diameter: 150 cm; length: 250 cm), like those used in piping systems.
