Metamorphik Photographies

In an age where digital images can be manipulated and duplicated ad infinitum, wet-plate collodion photographs, by their very form, material, technique, uniqueness, enhance the sincerity, truth and tangible nature of the object photographed. The images are inscribed in, penetrate into the material, they offer themselves for display and admiration, they can be touched. But with their shiny surface, they invite us to contemplate our own reflection superimposed over them. This leads us to question the intimate nature of our emotions, to reflect on the "meanings" of beauty, which exist only through the gaze we direct at ourselves.
