Tresses entre lacets

The age-old technique of braiding is still used in many fields, both artistic and industrial. The Maison des Tresses et Lacets is a museum and workshop whose aim is to perpetuate the skill of braiding. It has called upon a collective of artists, Trame de Soi, who are practised in textile-related crafts and industrial know-how. Each artist will reinterpret these techniques to serve a creation, drawing on the interflows between art, crafts, design and industry, thereby appropriating items produced by looms: braids, laces, rickracks.... Trame de Soi will be questioning the timeless gestures involved in lacing and braiding to give form to original objects which the artists will handle in order to draw out their intermingled meanings.
