L+T, Xavier Antin
Xavier Antin's exhibition revisits an element of the history of exhibition design through the L+T (Leger und Trager) system designed in 1924 by artist, designer and architect Frederick Kiesler, who was close to the DeStijl movement. Kiesler designed this modular structure to present a selection of some of the most avant-garde theatre scenery of the time. This pioneering structure was part of the burgeoning reflection on exhibition display methods at the beginning of the 20th century. By connecting this system with that of the image, somewhere between standard forms and specially crafted items, between the surface and the volume, the artist invites us to interpret and re-interpret a vision of modernity.Click to use
